You’ve probably heard the painfully joyous laughter of a Tickle Me Elmo doll in action. Yes, even when he’s not being tickled, Elmo is really, really relentlessly happy, and that’s great. But you know what’s not great? That thigh weight you just can’t seem to shake since you had your second Elmo-loving baby. But that’s okay, because there’s a new plastic surgery breakthrough in fat removal: Tickle lipo. And even if you haven’t heard of it yet, you’re definitely gonna like it more than a giggling red Muppet.
What is tickle lipo?
Tickle lipo, more formally known as Nutational Infrasonic Liposculpture (N.I.L.), is a new FDA approved system from Euromi that facilitates fat removal and liposuction for doctors and patients alike.
Using low frequency vibration, tickle lipo allows for the harvest of body fat without damage to surrounding tissue. The movement of the tickle lipo system glides through fatty tissue while simultaneously administering anesthesia in a targeted and localized fashion. Because of the maneuverability of NIL, it’s easier for doctors to navigate in sensitive body areas and the results are a more smoothly sculpted body. Tickle lipo is safe for both high volume and precise fat removal, even in difficult areas such as the back.
Why is it called tickle lipo? If you were thinking that the answer’s obvious, then you’re right. The nickname was coined because the procedure, well, tickles. The vibrations actually suppress pain and can cause Elmo-esque fits of giggles. Sure, you probably don’t relish the idea of being tickled, but if someone told you that you could laugh away your stomach pudge it would be hard to turn down the opportunity.
What is the procedure like?
Imagine whipping cream. Then imagine that instead of cream, you’re whipping fat. And the fat is coming off your body, and it tickles. That’s kind of what the nutational whipping process is like.
Well, not exactly, but you get the idea. And if it seems easy, that’s because it is. Yeah, it’s still a surgical procedure, so you need to consult with your plastic surgeon and talk about what areas you want to treat and what your pain tolerance is. But compared to traditional liposuction, NIL is well, nil. Nothing. It’s a breeze. The procedure is minimally invasive and takes between one and two hours. The area to be treated is numbed, and then fat is carefully suctioned out using a tool specialized for the part of your body you want slimmed.
What are the advantages?
Unlike in many fat removal procedures, the patient undergoing tickle lipo doesn’t have to be under general anesthesia. For a lot of people, that’s a perk. Especially if you enjoy being tickled. Seriously, though, there’s a lot less discomfort and a much quicker recovery period with NIL than with a lot of other operations. In addition to which, results appear almost immediately and continue to improve over a period of weeks. Fat removal is permanent, and harvested fat cells are often intact enough to be used for fat transfer procedures if you’re looking to loose the butt and boost the bust.
Is it safe?
Of course there are risks. But since tickle lipo doesn’t generate heat, there’s less of a chance that non-fatty tissue will be injured during the process. So while you will still probably experience a little discomfort and some bruising, there’s less pain and discoloration than would be associated with traditional lipo.
Please don’t tickle me!
Like any surgery, tickle lipo may not be for everyone. Some people may not be able to tolerate the tickling sensations however gentle or light they may be. And if you’re seriously overweight, liposuction might not be the right solution for you. However, if you’ve held out on siphoning off that extra thigh chub because the thought of lipo freaked you out, this might be right for you.
