For the last 10 years, Sherri from Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania has been thinking about having plastic surgery. She has long known that going under the knife was the right move, but the final step took a few years to make. As we caught up with Sherri in this intimate interview, she revealed that meeting people through the Make Me Heal community, participating in the Plastic Surgery Message Boards and seeing before and after pictures of real patients in the Plastic Surgery Pictures helped her tremendously in confirming that her decision would be good.

Sherri found her plastic surgeon, Dr. Dennis Monteiro, on the internet and knew that he was the right doctor from the very first consultation. Today, with her physical transformation shrinking her down from a size 12 waist to a 9 and a new sexy figure, Sherri is thrilled everytime she puts on her clothes and looks in the mirror and truly feels as a new person looking ahead only for more happy times. Her husband and family who supported her in this long process can actually feel the new positive vibes that are with Sherri at all time.

“Do it! There are people out there who had some negative experiences but you can’t let that scare you. They are the exception. The results are worth every penny,” says Sherri.

Dr. Dennis Monteiro from Valley Forge, PA performed Sherri’s tummy tuck and liposuction.

Make Me Heal: When did you first have the idea to have your procedure?

    Sherri: Years Ago.

Make Me Heal: What were your motivations behind your decision to have the procedure?

    Sherri: Emotional and social.

Make Me Heal: How long did it take you to make a decision and was it an easy or difficult one to make?

Sherri: It took several years but was easy to make.

Make Me Heal: Did your family, friends, and any other people in your close circle give you support, opposition, or did you make this decision without considering them?

Sherri: Most were very supportive but concerned.

Make Me Heal: How did you research the procedure and come to decide on this particular procedure?

Sherri: Discussion with other patients and a lot of internet research.

Make Me Heal: Please discuss if you used any of Make Me Heal’s resources.

Sherri: I used the Make Me Heal Plastic Surgery Message Board, the plastic surgery picture library, and recovery products.

Make Me Heal: How did you come to choose your doctor?

Sherri: I found him on the internet and after only 1 consult, I knew he was the one.

Make Me Heal: Please discuss if you have any role in deciding the type of technique used for your surgery by the doctor?

Sherri: No, I left it all up to him.

Make Me Heal: How did you prepare for the surgery?

Sherri: I stored pre-made meals and froze them + I got a large bottle of water. I bought comfy pajamas and tops. And also I got wireless for my laptop.

Make Me Heal: How were you feeling the night before the surgery and on the moments before the surgery itself?

Sherri: Never scared, just excited. I have never been afraid of surgery before so this was a piece of cake for me!

Make Me Heal: How was the recovery process?

Sherri: My husband did all of the chores and took care of my two young children. My mother stayed for the first 2 nights and helped change my dressings and cook me meals etc. I was in a lot of pain the first 2 days but that was to be expected. I actually enjoyed lying around and being waited on. It doesn’t happen everyday!

Make Me Heal: Please discuss the pain or discomfort you experienced during the recovery?

Sherri: The drain was a bummer and burned. That was the biggest negative of the entire process.

Make Me Heal: How well prepared were you for the recovery from physical, emotional, and mental respects?

Sherri: I spent 6 months on the internet researching and preparing for my surgeries.

Make Me Heal: What are your top recovery tips to other patients?

Sherri: Follow the Doc’s orders…and relax! Take advantage of the time you have by relaxing and allowing your body to heal. Let your family take your burden off of you.

Make Me Heal: How long did you take off from work? What did you tell your co-workers about taking this time off? Did anyone notice your cosmetic procedures at work and what did you tell them if they asked about it?

Sherri: I took 17 days off. I said I was having a “female procedure” done. No one noticed but I eventually told them and they were very impressed.

Make Me Heal: How happy are you with the results?

Sherri: I am 85% happy. I would have liked to be a little bit flatter but I had a c-section 3 years ago so the scar tissue created a hump that will probably always be there.

Other than that, I am totally thrilled every time I put on my clothes and look in the mirror.

Make Me Heal: How has your makeover impacted your life from personal, social, career, and other respects?

Sherri: Socially I feel more attractive which makes me more out-going.

Make Me Heal: Would you have done anything differently if you had the chance?

    Sherri: Definitely No!

Make Me Heal: What is your final word of advice to other people considering the procedure you had?

Sherri: Do it! There are people out there who had some negative experiences but you can’t let that scare you. They are the exception. The results are worth every penny.

Make Me Heal: Was Make Me Heal beneficial to you along your journey?

    Sherri: Definitely. It still is.
