While the state of the economy is making people think twice about opening their wallets, Londie Bowman found a creative way to pay for her plastic surgery makeover.
Bowman, 32, has just been busted for using a stolen debit card to pay for her Mommie Makeover, which typically consists of a breast lift, tummy tuck, and liposuction and costs $17,000 to $20,000. Bowman pleaded guilty to three counts of identity theft and faces up to four years and four months of prison time when she is sentenced at the end of the month.
It all started when Bowman decided she wanted to fix her sagging breasts and make them perky again. She scheduled her operation on February 28 with Dr. Yngvar Hvistendahl. As she only qualified for $12,000 in financing ahead of the surgery, she used a stolen debit card to pay for the rest. The transaction was denied, but the bank approved the transaction by the phone and the surgery was performed.
The fraud was discovered when the plastic surgery office sent flowers to the address Bowman gave, only to learn that another woman lived at the address.
Bowman would not have gotten caught had she not decided to return to the scene of the crime to have an itchy navel looked at by the doctor. Dr. Hvistendahl tipped off the police who arrested Bowman at the plastic surgeon’s facility.
“It takes a certain person to have the gall to do that,” said Dr. Hvistendahl. “She has to come back to the scene of the crime for followup.”
“She’s going to look really good in jail,” said Dr. Hvistendahl.none
